Survivors Find Sanctuary With B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation
Founded by human trafficking survivor Kimberly Miles, the B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for victims of trafficking in Las Vegas. Recognizing the urgent need for awareness and support, Miles established the foundation in 2015 to provide comprehensive assistance to survivors through various programs.
The SHERO Sanctuary program offers vital services such as emergency housing, medical support, and counseling, while the Mobile Sanctuary extends health and wellness services to the community. Additionally, SHERO Spirit offers holistic and art therapy, fostering healing and empowerment, while the SHERO Skills program in conjunction with Skillsoft provides unique courses from emotional learning to job skills available to those on their healing journey.
As part of their commitment to prevention, SHERO Shield collaborates with local authorities and educational institutions. Currently, they’re developing a new Human Trafficking education program in partnership with Clark County School District, set to launch this Fall. The initiative underscores their dedication to raising awareness and intervening to protect minors from exploitation.
Jei’mar Spell first heard about the S.H.E.R.O. Foundation in 2023, when Lorin Westlund, of Westlund Co., a cherished friend and esteemed business associate, invited him to a table at the S.H.E.R.O. Awareness Gala. It was during this gala that the founder of S.H.E.R.O., Kimberly Miles, captured the hearts of Jei’mar and others with her unwavering commitment and authenticity. The call to action resonated deeply with the attendees. For Jei’mar, whose life revolves around aiding others, this experience became a turning point.
“Everything I do in life must revolve around helping other people in some capacity,” says Jei’mar. “As a Risk Management Consultant, I get to help protect businesses, their people, and their profits, and have fun along the way. After listening to Kimberly Miles, I felt a yearning for something more—a desire to extend that same level of care and protection to those who need it most.”
Since joining forces with SHERO, Jei’mar has become a catalyst for positive change within the organization. His passion and skills have fused seamlessly with the foundation’s mission, creating a perfect synergy of purpose and action. For Jei’mar, personal growth isn’t just a journey; it’s a lifestyle. The constant pursuit of self-awareness, learning, and reflection fuels his drive to make a difference.
Kimberly Miles is also the founder and president of TPC The Payroll Company HR Consultants, Nevada’s largest privately held national payroll and human resources management firm. A results-driven businesswoman with numerous accolades, Miles will tell you she is “living my purpose and moving beyond the license to empower others for a better world.” Through her own experience, she confidently speaks her truth to inspire others and is the original SHERO.
“Like Jei’mar you can become a SHERO champion by spreading awareness and volunteering your time to one of our community outreach events or programs,” Kimberly enthuses. “Making a donation or purchasing a sponsorship or ticket to our upcoming I Am Radiant Fashion Show on August 25th, which Jei’mar will be emceeing, is a great way to start!”
Looking ahead, the vision is clear—a future where the B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation continues to thrive, empowered by a community of individuals committed to its cause. In the coming years, Jei’mar and Kimberly hope that B.E. A S.H.E.R.O.’s impact will stretch beyond Las Vegas and support victimized women worldwide.
In a world where empowerment knows no bounds, the journey of the S.H.E.R.O. Foundation stands as a testament to the transformative power of compassion and dedication. Through small acts of kindness and unwavering support, together, we can build a brighter future for all women.
