Rachel Onchain: Redefining Storytelling and Connection in Blockchain Culture

Rachel Brissenden has become one of the most recognizable names in blockchain, not through the creation of a carefully crafted persona, but by showing up authentically. Known worldwide as “Rachel Onchain,” she has built a reputation as a storyteller, founder, and cultural voice helping bring humanity to an industry often misunderstood as purely technical.

“The name Rachel Onchain grew out of my personal journey in the space,” she explains. “It wasn’t about creating a brand. It was about showing up as myself and making the blockchain world feel accessible and human.” That personal touch has become the foundation of her company, Onchain Media, now a leading hub for blockchain storytelling.

What began with hosting Twitter Spaces and speaking on small stages has grown into a multimedia company shaping the conversation around blockchain culture. Onchain Media officially launched at the Onchain Summit in San Francisco in August 2024, after Rachel made the decision to leave her full-time job and fully commit.

“The turning point came when I realized how many projects were struggling to cut through the noise,” she recalls. “I wanted to amplify voices, missions, and movements so that people and projects could be seen.”

Today, Onchain Media produces podcasts, livestreams, newsletters, and film projects. Its growth reflects the accelerating need for trusted voices in a sector moving from niche community to mainstream conversation.

Rachel’s impact extends well beyond media production. She has organized over 80 international events, produced more than 500 Twitter Spaces, and spoken at leading conferences like ETHDenver, ETHToronto, and DEVCON. For her, the most powerful moments are the ones that turn blockchain from abstract code into human connection. “One of my most memorable experiences was organizing a workshop with Princess Sarah Culberson of Sierra Leone,” she says. The session explored how blockchain could fund wells and expand access to clean water in underserved communities. “That experience reminded me of the extraordinary people this space brings together and the real-world impact we can create.”

Her first documentary, Onchain Humans + Impact, premiered at the Film3 Festival in San Francisco. Collaborating with seasoned creatives from Nickelodeon and Portlandia, the project underscored her belief that blockchain can transform ownership and opportunity in the film industry. “Film is one of the most powerful tools we have for sparking dialogue,” she says. “That project gave me the film bug, and I know it will remain an important part of Onchain Media’s journey.”

Her influence also extends into policy. A formative chapter in her career began when she worked as a legislative aide in Berkeley, helping draft blockchain reports for city government. Today, she continues this advocacy as an ambassador for Stand With Crypto, building bridges between innovators and policymakers. “Policy is where vision meets tangible impact,” she emphasizes. “It’s how technology moves from isolated innovation to widespread adoption.”

Beyond film and policy, Rachel has advised projects across Base and Coinbase’s ecosystems, where she sees community as the driving force. “The biggest pattern I see is people showing up for people,” she notes. She credits Jesse Pollak, the creator of Base, with encouraging her early on and supporting her first podcast episode. As an author, speaker, and advisor, she remains committed to challenging misconceptions that blockchain is only defined by hype cycles.

“Blockchain is a tool for empowerment,” she insists. “It has the potential to uplift communities, increase financial literacy, and protect intellectual property in a way that serves real people.”

She also cares deeply about intellectual property and provenance. In addition to running Onchain Media, I serve as a media advisor for Own The Doge, the group stewarding the Doge IP. She shares, “The story of Doge, one of the most iconic pieces of internet culture, illustrates why IP matters. Onchain ownership allows creators to retain value and ensures communities can build with integrity. For me, that’s not just theory; it’s personal.”

Looking forward, Rachel envisions Onchain Media scaling into larger partnerships and more ambitious storytelling projects. She is writing her second book and expanding collaborations in film and entertainment, while continuing to publish The Onchain Drop, her weekly newsletter. For her, success is simple but profound. “It’s about seeing blockchain woven into daily life in a way that feels natural and human. I want to help amplify the voices of people building a fairer, freer, more creative world.”

As Rachel Onchain, she has become more than a name. Rachel has become a bridge between technology and humanity, showing the world that blockchain’s greatest power lies not in code, but in connection.
