Shining a Light on Hope: Local Organizations Unite for National Human Trafficking Awareness

Human trafficking is a pervasive issue affecting millions globally, with the United States witnessing alarming numbers. According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, over 10,000 cases of human trafficking were reported in 2022, with Nevada ranking among the highest states for trafficking incidents per capita. Las Vegas, a bustling tourism hub, unfortunately, serves as a hotspot for this modern-day slavery. Two local organizations, THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys and Rubies LV, are joining forces to combat this issue and provide resources for survivors in Las Vegas.

THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys, a trusted name in personal injury law and civil litigation, has a long history of advocating for individuals affected by life-altering incidents. By expanding their focus to include survivors of trafficking, the firm aims to provide legal assistance to those who seek justice and reparation, showcasing their dedication to protecting vulnerable populations in the Las Vegas community.

“Human trafficking is not just a crime – it’s a fundamental violation of human dignity that demands our immediate attention and action. During Human Trafficking Awareness Month, we’re reminded that these aren’t just statistics; they’re stories of real people who have endured unimaginable trauma. Las Vegas’ unique position as a major tourist destination makes our community particularly vulnerable to trafficking activities, which is why we are dedicated to not only representing survivors in civil cases but also working closely with local organizations to prevent trafficking and support recovery efforts. Every survivor deserves justice, and more importantly, they deserve to know they’re not alone in their fight for recovery and restitution,” said Michael Kane, Esq., Kane & Myers, PLLC dba THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys.

Rubies LV, a faith-based nonprofit founded by survivors for survivors, addresses and prevents sex trafficking through comprehensive services such as crisis intervention, long-term support programs, and family counseling. Their survivor-led approach ensures unparalleled empathy and understanding, fostering an environment where healing and empowerment are possible.

“Las Vegas is a city of resilience, and Rubies LV stands as a testament to that. By working together with organizations like THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys, we can amplify our impact, offering survivors not only resources but also hope,” said Samantha Summers-Rivas, Founder of Rubies LV. “Every survivor deserves to feel safe, valued, and empowered to rebuild their life.”

This collaboration highlights the power of community-driven action in raising awareness and providing free resources for survivors. Initiatives include pro bono legal consultations, services, and resources, underscoring the commitment to making a tangible difference.
