Angels Of Las Vegas: A Beacon Of Hope
Angels of Las Vegas (AOLV), founded in 2012 by Aynalem Getahun, serves as a beacon of hope and support for individuals and families grappling with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, AOLV enriches the lives of its clients through comprehensive support services, including financial aid, wig donations, nutrition care packages, and health and wellness programs that cater to the body, mind, and soul.
Aynalem Getahun’s journey from Ethiopia to Las Vegas underscores her commitment to helping others. Despite initial struggles in a new country, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Hollywood Hair & Beauty Supply, inspired by a friend’s battle with cancer-induced hair loss.
Partnering with the community, AOLV has distributed wigs and expanded its outreach to feed the homeless and support children. Warlesea Fatta, AOLV’s CFO, reflects on her experience, stating, “Serving on the board of Angels of Las Vegas has been incredibly fulfilling. To be able to provide food and clothing to hundreds of families in need right here in our city is a true honor.”
In Las Vegas, AOLV continues to grow and serve the community, recently opening a new center to enhance services, including case management, weekly food distribution, yoga, meditation, beauty, health, wellness, art, and music therapy.
The organization’s mission is further strengthened by partnerships with major hospitals, clinics, and treatment centers in Las Vegas, such as Cure 4 the Kids, Summerlin Hospital, Sunrise Hospital, and Dominican Children’s Hospital. These collaborations enable AOLV to extend its services and support to a broader network of individuals in need.
With your support, AOLV continues to provide not only physical but also emotional sustenance, respecting the dignity and privacy of every individual it serves.
The AOLV team extends sincere gratitude for the support of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. Since 2007, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation has played a crucial role in meeting the healthcare needs of children in Nevada. Their collaboration with AOLV, exemplified by their support for patients like Junaisy, highlights the importance of accountability and maximizing resources.
Collaboration between organizations like Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and AOLV ensures comprehensive support for families facing life-threatening illnesses, reducing duplication, expanding services, and providing invaluable assistance during challenging times.
Junaisy’s Story: Junaisy’s journey serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience AOLV instills in its recipients. Diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at a young age, Junaisy’s battle with the disease led to unforeseen challenges, including the need for a heart transplant. Despite these hurdles, her love for painting and princesses sustains her spirit, embodying the hope AOLV strives to inspire.
Mayni Gray’s Story: Mayni Gray’s triumph over breast cancer epitomizes the strength fostered by AOLV’s support network. Encouraged by fellow survivors, Mayni launched Maya’s Makeover Studio amidst her treatment, a testament to her refusal to let cancer define her. Today, as a thriving business owner and two years in remission, Mayni’s story underscores the transformative power of community and resilience in the face of adversity.
