Katsuya Century City: A New Chapter for an Iconic Sushi Destination
Los Angeles has long been a city where culinary trends are born, but few restaurants have left a mark on the global stage quite like Katsuya. This summer, the legendary brand of Sam Nazarian’s sbe reintroduces itself in grand style at Westfield Century City, unveiling a new look, a refreshed menu, and a vision that reaffirms its place as one of the most sought-after dining destinations in Los Angeles. Recognized by Deluxe Version Magazine as the 2025 Verified Best: New Sushi & Beer Garden Experience, the new Katsuya sets the standard for where Japanese tradition meets California innovation.

The reimagined Katsuya Century City stands as the fourth Los Angeles location, yet this debut feels like a fresh beginning. Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi, whose name has become synonymous with innovation and artistry in Japanese cuisine, ushers the brand into a new era. With its sleek new design by the award-winning Rockwell Group, Katsuya offers a striking balance between modern sophistication and the timeless warmth of Japanese tradition.
Chef Uechi’s updated menu builds on nearly two decades of acclaim. Beloved staples such as the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Baked Crab Handrolls, and Miso Cod remain, honoring the dishes that helped elevate Katsuya into an international sensation. The latest additions point toward the future with Toro Tartare, King Crab Motoyaki, and A5 Wagyu Tataki bringing a refined energy to the table and showcasing both technical mastery and California’s contemporary flair.

“Opening our fourth location in Los Angeles means a lot to me,” says Chef Uechi. “After building the Katsuya brand over the past couple of decades, it has been humbling to still be a favorite. It also inspires me to keep things fresh and creative as we grow. With this updated menu and new look, we are excited to offer something great for the next generation.”
The experience extends far beyond the sushi bar. Guests are welcomed into a sprawling 17,000 square foot venue with a terrace overlooking the Beverly and Hollywood Hills, an open-air Katsuya Beer Garden, and a trio of vibrant bars that make the restaurant as lively for late-night gatherings as it is for intimate dinners. With seating for 400, the space feels both expansive and personal, an atmosphere designed for everything from celebratory evenings to after-work escapes.
Katsuya’s home in Century City is no coincidence. Westfield’s bustling cultural and retail hub has become a destination in its own right, and the arrival of Katsuya alongside Casa Dani, Chef Dani García’s modern Mediterranean concept, cements the complex as a culinary epicenter in Los Angeles. Together, the two restaurants form a bold new flagship for sbe, the hospitality group founded by Sam Nazarian, who continues to shape the future of dining worldwide.
